John Eunis' class from school
by Steve Siok
New member John Eunis brought a group of 12 high school students to Seagrave on November 15. Unfortunately it was cloudy night but we agreed to show them the scopes and grounds even though the sky did not cooperate. Steve, Conrad and Jim spent about two hours with the students, showing them the Clark, the 12” Meade and the Patton. We concentrated on the deep history of Seagrave Observatory and its connection to Providence, where most of the students live. Lots of fun because they got to rotate the dome after removing the hurricane hooks and they rotated the dome as well. We requested that they return on clear Saturday nights in the future and explained we would help with future outreach with their group. Steve described the activities they could participate in on the GALAXY ZOO web site. We will follow up with this project with the students.
