David Gow visits Seagrave Observatory during June monthly meeting
by Matt White
Saturday night turned out to be somewhat interesting. After the meeting we brought our guest speaker, David Gow, up to see the restored flyball governor used on the Clark. The Sky was overcast, but Bob Horton mentioned that it was clearing from the west. I went up into the dome and stepped out onto the deck a few minutes later and, to my surprise, found that the sky had cleared.
Noting that Saturn was up in the southern sky, I proceeded to finish opening the Clark and trained over to Saturn. I left Jim Crawford to watch the scope and proceeded down to the Comet ISON meeting.
Alas, by the time the meeting was over, the sky had become overcast once more and Bob closed down the Clark. On a positive note, half a dozen people had a chance to gaze at Saturn for about forty minutes.
